Sonoma Academy's commitment to sustainability and innovation was matched by our team's passion for designing an exceptional foodservice experience. One of the first of its kind, the building is LEED Platinum and WELL certified in addition to being guided by the Living Building Challenge (LBC) standards. We designed a main dining venue that incorporated eco-friendly materials and the latest technology. Our goal was to create a seamless flow of food and service that would enhance the student dining experience, and we're proud to have played a part in Sonoma Academy's many award-winning initiatives.

At Sonoma Academy, we worked closely with the school's leadership team to create a foodservice program that would align with their values and mission. Our team designed a main dining venue that would allow students to engage with their food and the environment in new and exciting ways. The result was a space that was not only beautiful and functional but also incredibly sustainable, with features like composting, solar power, and energy-efficient systems.

From the layout and flow of the dining area to the innovative food prep and serving stations, every detail was carefully considered.

Keeping things eco-friendly

Incorporating sustainable practices into school foodservice design can play a vital role in reducing waste and creating a healthier food environment for students. By prioritizing energy-efficient equipment, composting and recycling systems, and local and seasonal sourcing, foodservice design in schools can reduce its carbon footprint and provide students with fresh and nutritious meals that are in line with their evolving dietary needs.
